Time is a fickle friend. We wake up each day with a blank slate and all the time in the world, only to find our day disappear under a pile of busy work and minor tasks. We work so hard, but by the end of the week, we don’t really have anything to show for it. Sound...
You would think this is a post about relaxation. And you would be right. And wrong.
Two weeks ago, I took my first (since having my daughter) girls weekend away. I’ve been gone overnight and, of course, plenty of days or out for dinners. But this was a full weekend with my girlfriends and the beach. No baby monitor to listen for. No one saying “mama” or “up” 50,000 times a day. As cute as it is, I’ll admit, I was excited to get away.
My daughter had just gotten over an ear infection 3 weeks prior, stomach bug (and recurring stomach bug) the two weeks prior, and I was finally clearing out an upper respiratory infection from the previous week. My Covid tests were negative and my bags were packed!
The trip was great. We slept in (heaven!). We took quiet time. We sat on the beach and by the pool and talked. We ate amazing seafood. Drank wine. Watched 80s chick flicks and stayed up too late. This this the relaxation part by the way.
Then I got the text. On Sunday my husband sent me a photo of our baby girl obviously not feeling well. He knew I would want to know. We thought it was her stomach bug popping back up mysteriously. By the time I got home, she was very clingy. Cue the “mama! Up!” Again. Fevery. Fussy. That last another day a half until my husband tested positive for Covid. So did she. I tested positive a day later. Damnit. I could feel the breeze as that relaxation whooshed out the door and it was smothered by a toddler with octopus tentacles. Did I mention I had a new VA starting that week as well?
Such is life folks. I hear it all the time. “I was going to…but then this came up …” Life always keep us on our toes about something. We just put one foot in front of the other. Soak up relaxation when you can. Store it 😛 Then take everything day by day.
We are all good now, which I am grateful for. My VA has jumped right in. And I have pictures to remember the salty breeze and welcoming pool. Tomorrow is just another Tuesday growing my business and learning how to juggle life. And I’m here for it. 💕...
