I have a wicked inner critic. She’s mean and judgey and she encourages me to play the comparison game all the time.
She shows up when …
someone else launches something amazing.
I feel out of ideas.
I make a mistake.
I am learning something new.
A client asks a question I don’t have an answer to.
She tells me that I’m …
Silly for continuing on.
Every day, I work to get to know her. I try to understand her insecurities. I try to treat this side of me with love. I listen to her and help her understand that we are still learning. That we don’t actually have to have all of the answers. We learn, we try, we move forward. We fail. We stumble. We get up, we learn, we implement, we try again. This is life. It’s OK to make mistakes.
I try to soothe her by letting her know that I don’t judge her by what we didn’t know. Like Maya Angelou always said … “once you know better, do better.”
Do you have an inner critic, too? What can you do to soothe that voice? To pick yourself up and try again with new, valuable information? You are whole with all of your parts - positive and fearful. Honor them all. Listen to them all. Let them be seen and heard and understood. This is part of your new learning and growth.
When I graduated with a graphic design degree, I knew it wouldn’t be my gig forever. I enjoyed it and it entertained me, but I knew there was something more.
After a few years and some serious burnout, I started researching my options. Exploring what I felt was missing. Putting the pieces of my passions together to decide what I wanted next. I stumbled upon the field of coaching 14 years ago. I didn’t know it existed before I started looking.
So if you're feeling restless, consider what else might be possible for you that maybe you don’t even know exists yet.
Ask yourself ... if you are doing the same thing in 10 years as you are today ... would you be happy? (Current world situation aside)
If not, today is the best time to put change in motion. Start asking questions. Researching. Exploring what could be possible. Revv up your momentum. Vroom vroom!
My clients are often surprised by how wrung out they feel at the end of the process. And, not wrung out in a 'this was horrible, I'm burnt out and I never want to do this again' type of way. It's never "just creating a website" when you work with me.
The process always ends in a 'wow, I understand myself so much more and am feeling so fully aligned with my purpose' type of way.
These are just a few things to remember about creating or re-creating a new website:
✨ You are re-becoming. This brings up a lot of inner work on visibility and alignment. Remember that you are letting go of a previous version of yourself and evolving into something even greater. Don't forget that you get a training coach AND designer with me.
🕯 It can be uncomfortable to spotlight your gifts. No matter how much you believe in them. I'll give you permission to own them, to brag about them (with grace, of course), and to spotlight them.
⚡️ Change can be hard. You're likely shifting systems, content, and offers. It's a lot of change and while it's exciting, it can also be uncomfortable. We'll help you pick the right systems and learn how to use them.
🌤 There is no rush. I have learned that with these projects comes a divine timeline. We may hit bumps or setbacks. You may experience writer's block or distraction. It is all divinely timed to release the new you out into the world in perfect tempo with the Universe's plan for you.
